These terms are an agreement between you and Jotted ("Jotted", "we", "us"). They cover your use of the Jotted desktop app and the getjotted.com website. By joining the waitlist, downloading the app, or creating an account, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Jotted.
Jotted is a desktop application that records meetings directly from your computer, without sending a bot into your calls. It transcribes every recording on your own computer, on every plan. Depending on your plan, it can also generate summaries and action items, store recordings in the cloud, and let you share them with a link.
You are responsible for recording lawfully. Laws about recording conversations differ by country, state, and region. In many places you must tell the other people on a call that you are recording, and in some places you must get their permission first. It is your responsibility to know the rules that apply to you and to follow them.
Jotted gives you a tool. How you use it is up to you. We are not responsible for recordings you make without the consent required where you live. By using Jotted you agree that you will get any consent the law requires before recording.
You need an account to use paid features. You are responsible for keeping your login details safe and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us right away if you think someone else is using it. You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live to use Jotted.
Payments are handled by our payment provider, Dodo Payments, who acts as the merchant of record. Their terms also apply to the payment itself.
The short version: you get 7 days to try Jotted without paying, and 14 days after your first payment to change your mind. After that, you can cancel whenever you like, but we do not refund time you have already paid for.
Things we refund regardless of timing. If we charge you after you canceled, charge you the wrong amount, charge you twice, or if Jotted does not do something this site clearly says it does, tell us and we will put it right. These are our mistakes, not changes of mind, and the 14 days do not apply to them.
If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you have a statutory right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days of signing up, without giving a reason. That period begins when you create your paid subscription, including when it starts with a free trial, and it applies alongside the refund window described above. Nothing here reduces that right.
How to ask. Email [email protected] from the address on your account. We aim to reply within two working days. Refunds are issued by Dodo Payments, our payment provider, back to the payment method you used, and usually take a few working days to appear.
Your local recordings are always yours. The finished recording saved on your own computer is never deleted by Jotted, under any circumstance. It stays with you no matter what happens to your subscription.
One thing worth knowing: while Jotted records, it writes several large working files, and once your recording has been processed it moves those working files to your computer's Recycle Bin so you get the space back. They stay there until you empty the bin, so you can restore them if you want them. Your finished recording is never one of them. You can turn this off with the "Keep original files" setting.
The rules below apply only to recordings and data stored in the Jotted cloud on a paid plan:
Paid plans do not put a hard cap on how much you can store, because we would rather not nickel-and-dime you. In return, we ask you to use Jotted reasonably. We reserve the right to act on use that is clearly abusive or that threatens the service for everyone else.
Your recordings, transcripts, and everything in them belong to you, not us. We do not claim ownership of your content. We only access it as needed to provide the service (for example, to process a transcript into a summary). We never use your recordings or transcripts to train AI models.
Do not use Jotted to break the law, to record people unlawfully, to harass anyone, or to try to break, overload, or reverse-engineer the service. We may suspend accounts that do.
One exception, and we mean it. The Jotted app includes FFmpeg, which is separate open-source software licensed under the GNU General Public License v3. Nothing in these terms restricts any right the GPL gives you over that component. You may use, study, modify and redistribute it under the GPL. See section 13 for the license and the source.
We work hard to make Jotted reliable, but we cannot promise it will always be perfect or never lose data. Jotted is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
We may update these terms as Jotted grows. If we make an important change, we will let you know. You can stop using Jotted at any time. We may suspend or end accounts that break these terms.
Jotted includes FFmpeg, which we did not write and do not own. It is distributed under the GNU General Public License, version 3. The full license text ships with the app and can be viewed at Settings → Open source.
As the GPL requires, the complete corresponding source code for the exact FFmpeg build we distribute is available here, free, with no need to ask:
updates.getjotted.com/ffmpeg-source/
That includes the FFmpeg source (commit e38092ef93) and a build manifest listing every bundled component, its exact version, and the full build configuration. For the source of an individual GPL-licensed library built into that binary, such as x264 or x265, at the versions listed in the manifest, email [email protected] and we will provide it.
FFmpeg is the property of its respective copyright holders. Its use here does not imply their endorsement of Jotted.
The rest of Jotted is our own software and is not open source. The GPL applies to the FFmpeg component only.
